Monsoon in the Konkan

There is a particular pleasure to the monsoon in the Konkan: thick green hills falling into the Arabian Sea, the smell of wet earth, the relief of a 24°C afternoon. We picked a handful of homes — old fishermen's houses, modernist tea-estate retreats, a converted lighthouse keeper's cottage — that are best, not despite the rain, but because of it.
